The Accounting Technician is responsible for the day-to-day accounting operations and supporting accurate, timely financial reporting. This role requires technical accounting knowledge, independent judgment, and attention to detail. Reporting to the CFO, the Accounting Technician plays a key role in month-end close, reconciliations, compliance, and continuous improvement of accounting processes.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Accounts Payable & Receivable**
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable roles and ensure accurate coding to the general ledger.
- Reconcile customer and vendor statements as required.
**General Ledger & Reporting**
- Post journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and intercompany entries.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations.
- Take a lead role in month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support profitability analysis and operational reporting by preparing routine and ad hoc reports.
- Support annual budgeting processes.
- Prepare supporting schedules for financial statements and management reporting.
**Payroll**
- Reconcile payroll liability accounts and benefits deductions.
- Assist with payroll processing and reconciliations (hourly drivers, owner-operators, salaried staff, as applicable) as required.
**Tax & Compliance**
- Prepare and file GST/HST, PST (BC), and other applicable indirect tax returns.
- Assist with audit preparation and respond to requests from external accountants or auditors.
- Maintain organized accounting records in compliance with company policies.
- **Process Improvement & Internal Controls**
- Follow established accounting procedures and internal controls.
- Identify process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Support documentation of accounting processes and policies.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum **3-5 years** of hands-on accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
- Experience with month-end close
- Experience with ERP software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (reconciliations, schedules, basic formulas).
- Solid understanding of GST/PST requirements in British Columbia.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Experience in logistics, transportation or trucking industry would be an asset.

Pay: $70,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
