**PRIMARY PURPOSE**: To collaborate with and assist Forensic Scientists and Engineers to investigate and/or document events.
**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assists Forensic Scientist and Engineers with forensic testing and drafting reports.
- Maintains and manages evidence by safekeeping property in such a manner that the individual items are secure from theft, loss, or contamination.
- Transports evidence as instructed.
- Maintains chain of custody reports with notations of any and all actions associated with evidence.
- Attends and supports site evidence examinations
- Ensures the timely and legally correct notifications of Fire Investigators and Engineers for release/disposal of evidence collected and stored by the Company.
- Works closely with internal and external customers to provide proper notifications regarding work orders.
- Coordinates the disposal of evidence which is authorized for disposal, including any special disposal of explosives / hazardous specimens.
- Procures and maintains adequate supplies. Manages distribution of containers and evidence collection kits to customers.
- Follows industry acceptable methodology for performance of services.
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients, colleagues, subcontractors and prospects.
- Local marketing and sales activities
**ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Complies with Company’s Safety Programs/Standards
- Properly utilizes Personal Protection Equipment
- Exercises appropriate use, care, and maintenance of equipment (company owned or leased)
- Complies with company standards and best practices regarding the storage of equipment
- Meets or exceeds productivity levels and daily time submission as determined by manager.
- Complies with all Human Resources Policies, Programs, and Initiatives
- All other duties as assigned
**QUALIFICATIONS**
**Education & Licensing**
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from a recognized university and working as an Engineer in Training (EIT) and working to become a Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of the posted position.
**Experience
**Three years minimum of engineering experience or equivalent combination of experience and education required with some introduction to in the forensic sciences discipline.
**Skills & Knowledge**
- Excellent oral and written communication
- PC literate, including Microsoft Office products
- Analytical and interpretive skill
- Strong organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to meet or exceed Performance Competencies
**WORK ENVIRONMENT**
- Travel, at least, 30-40% of the time. Can be local or across provincial boundaries.
- Exposure to all elements of the weather
- Walking, climbing, etc., as required
- Occasional lifting, up to 50 pounds, as required
