**Early Childcare Educator (ECE)**
**Position Summary**:
Located at the Uy’sqwalawun Childcare Centre & Headstart Program in Nanoose First Nation, the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) is responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate early childhood programs that meet the observed needs of the children and leading children in activities to stimulate and develop their intellectual, physical, and emotional growth.
The purpose of the Early Childhood Educator (ECE) position is to provide direct care to children, from birth to 3 years of age. The position encourages children’s intellectual, physical and emotional growth.
**Qualifications**:
- Early Childhood Educator License - Early Childhood Educator Certification
- Current Child Care First Aid certificate.
- Ability to provide professional references.
- Diplomas, certificates or other evidence of training related to child growth/development.
- Experience working in a childcare or recreational setting.
**Skills & Abilities**:
- A passion for working with young children.
- Strong understanding of child growth and development
- Ability to create culturally appropriate, developmentally appropriate and inventive programming.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a cohesive team.
- Flexibility and ability to “go with the flow”.
- High level of organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently and with other effectively within an inter-disciplinary team setting
**Work Conditions, Physical Capabilities and Personal Suitability**:
- Combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching, kneeling

Schedule:
- 8 hour: all staff will be in a rotation of shifts or agreed upon as a team(set shifts)
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
As career progresses, incumbent will be required to successfully complete job-required, short-term upgrading, training and courses relating to classroom management, Snaw-naw-as language, First Nation’s child development, curriculum development, language immersion, etc.
Pay: $27.50-$29.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
