**Job Description**:
***:Under the general supervision of the Supervisor and the direction of the Therapeutic Recreationist on duty, participates in the facilitation programs and activities for the residents.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assist Therapeutic Recreationist with activities.
- Assist with porting residents to and from recreation programs.
- Provide meaningful, purposeful, individualized programming to residents.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:
**Education/Experience**:

- Must be a secondary school graduate and have completed at a minimum of the first year of the Recreation Therapy, Gerontology or Outdoor Recreation at college or university and continue to be enrolled in either of these programs.

**Skills & Abilities**:

- Must be able to work with mínimal supervision.
- Must be highly motivated and able to work well with the multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and written.
- Must have superior customer service skills, with the ability to deal with the public and staff in a courteous and tactful manner.
- A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly.

**Physical Demands**:

- Must be able to push wheelchairs and stand for 1 hour.
- Must be able to assist ambulatory residents to sit and stand.

**CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT**:

- Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC).
- Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
- Must have successfully undergone a “two step” tuberculosis skin test.
- Successful completion of the Safe Food Handler training program as mandated by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.
