Gore Mutual's Personal Insurance Underwriting team is growing We are looking to add new team members to our National Operations Centre and set the stage for continued growth and expansion. Our Underwriters deliver genuine personal service to our brokers, listen carefully to understand their needs, and create tailored solutions blending the needs of the customer with profitable underwriting results.
**What will you do?**
- Assess and underwrite personal lines risks presented by calls and transactions aligned with corporate risk appetite.
- Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of assigned brokers, fostering strong partnerships, identifying growth opportunities, and representing the company at industry events. Assist brokers with inquiries related to billing and complete transactions.
- Ensure risk reviews are carried out within authority levels, regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to team members as directed by the leader.
- Contribute to achieving department's operations and quality metrics by reviewing individual performance indicators.
- Provide broker insights and trends to leaders and senior members of the team and participate in broker performance reviews under the guidance of leader and senior team members.
- Ensure consistent quality service is provided to broker partners by reviewing feedback provided by quality reviews and customer surveys.
- Collaborate within and outside of the department, as needed, to resolve broker problems quickly and provide a timely response back to the broker.
- Contribute to underwriting support for Ontario property and auto customers, as part of our national underwriting responsibilities.
- Participate in a half-day on / half-day off phone support rotation and be comfortable handling inbound broker calls to provide timely underwriting assistance.
**What will you need to succeed?**
- 3 years of underwriting experience in personal insurance is required
- CIP designation or working towards designation is preferred
- Proficient computer skills with strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs
- Excellent communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders
- Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills
- Ability to take initiative and work with mínimal supervision
Please note that this role operates in a hybrid environment, with two days a week expected in our Cambridge Ontario office.
