Design - Layouts (12 Month Contract)

**JOB SUMMARY**:
As a member of the engineering team the Jr Design engineer is responsible to ensure all cells conform to drawings.
Ensure that the engineering controlled documentation is kept up to date and is stored correctly on the server. Work with engineering on new project development and engineering changes.
**JOB RESPONSIBILITES**:
- Design and development of automation cell layouts and models.
- Modify existing designs and maintain revisions and document control
- Complete documentation drawing packages
- Communicate with suppliers
- Job task planning and organizing
- Develop drawings for design modifications
- Check finished work and ensure that working documentation is at the appropriate revision level.
- Strong organizational abilities, good interpersonal skills and effective written and verbal communication skills are all required, as are independent thinking and initiative in determining work methods
- Create assembly drawings, detail drawings
- Liaise with customers and engineering staff
- Follow designs through manufacturing process to confirm any changes required are properly documented
- Mentor other mechanical designers in proper mechanical design techniques and advise on suitability
- Coordinate all vendor actives to ensure vendors are on schedule with requirements; ensuring vendors are completing work in accordance to our standards.
- Ensure automation safety for all cells
- Follow CSA Safety Standards for automation
- Other duties and projects as required by your Manager
**EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or College Degree Mechanical Drafting.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks
- Good documentation and communication skills as well as the ability to work very well in a team environment
- A hands-on approach to problem solving / analytical skills
- Must be self-motivated and effective at troubleshooting and meet tight deadlines
- Good communication skills both verbal and written
- Skilled in the use of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Project)
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical theory and the use of software to perform complex calculations to support engineering designs
**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
