We are seeking a passionate and experienced **Produce Manager** with a strong background in retail produce. As the Produce Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of our produce department, ensuring that our selection of fresh fruits and vegetables meets the highest standards of quality and presentation. You will play a key role in creating a welcoming shopping experience, working closely with our team to maintain a well-stocked, clean, and visually appealing produce section.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Manage ordering, receiving, and stocking to maintain freshness and minimize waste.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked department.
- Train and guide staff on produce handling, customer service, and best practices for merchandising.
- Provide product recommendations, answer questions, and ensure customers leave happy.
- Monitor stock levels and adjust orders based on sales trends to avoid overstock or shortages.
- Work with local and regional suppliers to source high-quality produce, with a focus on sustainability and local sourcing.
- Uphold food safety standards and follow all store policies.
**Qualifications**:
- Minimum **2 years of experience in a retail produce department** within a grocery store or similar setting.
- Proven leadership skills, with **1+ years of experience managing teams** in a retail environment.
- Strong knowledge of fruits, vegetables, and produce handling techniques, including proper storage and rotation to maintain freshness.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage inventory and optimize stock levels.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage and assist customers confidently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Must be **legally eligible to work in Canada **and either reside in the local area or be willing to commute.
