**WHAT YOU'LL DO?**
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Legal Affairs, the Legal Counsel will be responsible for supporting and advising management and internal teams on various matters of a commercial and contractual nature as well as compliance and litigation prevention.
Responsibility and tasks:
- Draft, negotiate and interpret various contracts, commercial contractual documents and various notices related to construction projects (call for proposals, construction, procurement, confidentiality, mortgage, notice of default, communication related to a claim or notice of change, etc.).
- Develop and update internal contract templates as well as various tools to facilitate contract management and comprehension by project teams.
- Advise management and internal teams on a daily basis on legal requirements and risks as well as the conduct of business and operations in order to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations (in particular, in matters of construction, real estate, commercial, employment, immigration, environment and privacy ) as well as Borea's internal policies and procedures.
- Monitor legal changes in appropriate jurisdictions, communicate relevant developments, and provide training from time to time.
- Take a hands-on, solution-focused and dispute-avoidance approach to complete projects on time and within the framework in place.
- Perform any other task related to the position of legal counsel.
**WHAT YOU'LL BRING?**
- Bachelor of Laws (JD, LLB) and member of a bar in a Canadian province.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in the field of construction and/or business law within a company or a recognized law firm, particularly in terms of drafting and negotiating, as well as in conformity, prevention and/or settlement of disputes.
- Excellent command of English anf French both written and spoken, as well as good communication and vulgarization skills.
- Excellent sense of organization and priorities.
- Rigor and attention to detail.
- Adaptability and ability to work under pressure in an environment where meeting deadlines, quality of work and customer satisfaction are paramount.
- Resourcefulness, agility and creativity in order to propose practical solutions.
- Knowledge and/or interest in the renewable energy industry, engineering and/or construction.
