**Position Overview**:
The Daycare Worker will provide high-quality, nurturing care and early learning experiences for children of EmployESBC program participants. This role is essential in supporting English-speaking Black Quebecers and newcomers as they access employment, training, and wrap-around services, ensuring their children are cared for in a safe, stimulating, and culturally responsive environment.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Child Supervision and Engagement**
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of all children in care at all times.
- Facilitate age-appropriate activities, play, and learning experiences that support cognitive, emotional, and physical development.
- Provide nurturing interactions to foster trust, confidence, and a sense of belonging for each child.
- **Inclusive and Culturally Sensitive Care**
- Create an environment where children from diverse backgrounds feel respected, valued, and included.
- Incorporate cultural awareness, recognition, and language diversity into daily routines and activities.
- Communicate respectfully and effectively with children and families from Black, newcomer, and equity-deserving communities.
- **Routine Care and Program Delivery**
- Support daily routines including snacks/meals, toileting, rest time, and transitions.
- Maintain cleanliness of play spaces and diligently adhere to health, safety, and hygiene protocols.
- Collaborate with the Daycare Supervisor and other childcare staff to implement the daycare program and respond to the unique needs of participating families.
- **Records and Family Communication**
- Complete attendance and incident records as required.
- Communicate regularly, professionally, and warmly with parents/guardians regarding their child’s experiences, progress, or any concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings and ongoing professional development activities.
**Required Skills and Qualifications**:
- Experience providing care and educational activities for children (age range: infants to 12 years), preferably in a formal daycare, school, or community setting.
- Training or certification in Early Childhood Education, Childcare, or a related field is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of child development, health, and safety regulations.
- Strong communication skills; ability to work well in a multicultural, multilingual environment.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting children’s growth.
- Experience working with Black, immigrant, or equity-deserving families is an asset.
- Bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
**Summary**:
The Daycare Worker is a vital part of the EmployESBC project team, enabling participants to pursue employment and training opportunities knowing their children are safe, supported, and thriving in a culturally affirming childcare environment. This role directly contributes to barrier removal, program accessibility, and overall community well-being.
**Job Type**: Part-time
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Weekends as needed
