Holland Christian Homes consists of 6 Independent/Assisted Living Towers as well as Faith Manor and Grace Manor which are private, non-profit Christian Long-Term Care facilities situated in the City of Brampton in the Region of Peel. The Recreation Aide Health Services Summer Student will work under the supervision of the Activation Manager to provide recreation programming for residents in the Manors.
**Specific responsibilities include**:
- Assist in the delivery of recreation programming to residents.
- Transport residents to the activity programs.
- Conduct 1:1 visit with residents.
- Lead outdoor walks.
- Respects and carries out the values associated with a person-centred approach which include rights, dignity, identity, individuality, respect, privacy, choice and independence
- Other duties as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Gerontology students at the university level or Activation Coordinator/Recreation Leadership students at the college level preferred.
- **Canada Summer Jobs Eligibility Criteria**: must be between age 15 to 30 at the start of employment, a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and, have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations (International students are not eligible participants).
- Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- A satisfactory and current Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Evidence of negative 2 step TB Test, full COVID-19 vaccination and up to date immunizations including Flu Shot (unless medically exempt)

Contract length: 8 weeks
