Aalto's Assistant Manager

**Specific Expectations**: Basic primary purpose of the position is to perform all duties within the restaurant at an exceptional level, in order to properly train new employees of such standards. The Assistant Manager must be willing to work as a hands-on employee in all areas as necessary. The Assistant Manager will help minimize the costs of operating Aaltos while maximizing revenue. The Assistant Manager will communicate effectively with all other Supervisors and Managers within his or her own facility. The Assistant Manager will assist in the implementation and maintenance of up-selling and incentive programs. The Assistant Manager may coordinate the recruitment, selection and orientation activities of all Aaltos employees. The Assistant Manager will settle disputes and establish positive morale. The Assistant Manager will ensure team members understand and are trained in all security prevention methods. The Assistant Manager will ensure time sheets are completed in an orderly and timely fashion. The Assistant Manager will participate in a monthly inspection of furniture, fixtures and equipment with the Department Manager, Maintenance Manager and General Manager. This position reports to the Aaltos Manager/General Manager.
**Opening Duties**:
Check the communications book for any pertinent issues or concerns that require immediate attention, concerning the impact of daily duties;
Confirm reservations and special requests, and ensure team members are prepared for the daily duties with exceptional guest service;
Check schedules and confirm that scheduled employees are present and accounted for, assign sections;
Perform a daily Manager’s walk-through of the restaurant, to ensure cleanliness and overall appearance of Aaltos;
Verify Floats and cash-outs as necessary.
**Shift Duties**:
- Ensure all team members have the necessary tools and equipment to perform his or her jobs efficiently;
- Oversee restaurant operations to ensure employees are performing jobs to the established standards as set by management;
- Maintain a presence on the floor of the restaurant and kitchen, assisting in different areas as needed;
- Assist with every position in Aaltos as required in order for the shift to run efficiently;
- Ensure Servers and other staff are motivated to perform duties to the highest level of excellence;
- Lead, coach, encourage, inspire, train and motivate employees as necessary;
- Respond to guest inquiries, concerns and complaints;
- Receive server and cashier cash-outs making sure each are accurate and correct and securing in drop safe;
- Scheduling employees in each area of responsibility;
- Adhere to all LGA regulations governing the service of alcohol, that are appropriate to the position and all other government codes and regulations.
**Closing Duties**:
Ensure all shift personnel have signed out;
Leave any pertinent information in the daily logbook and communications binder;
Count all floats making sure all are secured;
Run POS reports as required;
Complete daily closing duties as put forth at each location;
Perform daily restaurant closing procedures and make sure all items are secured (at the end of business day);
Make final inspection of kitchen making sure cleanliness is maintained and all equipment is off (if working at the end of the night).
**Qualifications**:
- Articulately communicates both verbally and in writing;
- Background in serving and exceptional guest service, at least three years experience;
- Can acquire Criminal Background Check and It’s Serving it Safe certificate;
- Clean, with good hygiene habits;
- Detail-oriented;
- Demonstrated leadership skills;
- Enjoys meeting and talking with different people;
- Exceptional leadership skills;
- Experience with POS systems;
- Extroverted personality;
- Knowledge of restaurant and hotel procedures, plus liquor and labour costing, inventory controls and staff management;
- Multi-tasks and delegates efficiently;
- Organized, accurate and reliable;
- Positive and upbeat attitude and demeanor;
- Professional attitude and expectations;
- Recognizes and resolves problems quickly and efficiently;
- Strong mathematics and basic computer skills;
- Works with the public in a calm, courteous, friendly and professional manner.
**Workplace Abilities**:
- Bend and stretch frequently;
- Deal with loud noises, large crowds and potentially upset guests;
- Handle a fast-paced environment that is often stressful;
- Lift, balance and carry trays of up to 20 lbs. over extended periods of time;
- Operate a POS system and all processes of payment;
- Stand, walk and remain on feet and perform job duties for entire shift duration;
- Work efficiently.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $35,000.00-$40,000.00 per year
