Window Wall/curtain Wall Facade Drafter

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**: - Efficiently generate high quality production drawing packages that are complete and accurate using AutoCAD, Revit or other tools as applicable. - Adhere and promote established SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) and Standards that are related to the Drafting Department and be willing to offer suggestions for improvements. - Properly use the companies electronic filing system in filing internal and external documents. - Continue to expand your knowledge of the company’s product lines. - Continuous development to become proficient in the use and interpretation of architectural drawings along with other contract documents such as specifications. - Become familiar with the manufacturing process and effectively utilize representatives from the manufacturing floor to answer design related questions and provide input on design. - Utilize manufacturing input with the intent of producing a production package for ease of manufacturing and installation. - Generate submission drawings and production packages at an expert level that are complete and accurate without supervisory guidance. - Evaluate potential cost savings resulting from design decisions. - Ability to be a "Project Lead" coordinating drawing efforts with multiple associates to produce a complete and accurate set of drawings and/or production package. - Participate in generating Value Engineering ideas in an effort to reduce cost. - Support Project Manager by helping to deal with field issues/questions finding solutions where necessary. - Participate in design review meetings with the intent of producing drawings with cost effective design solutions for manufacturing and engineering processes. - Mentor and train associates by answering questions and providing guidance. - Ability to review structural calculation packages and identify areas that can be value engineered. - Display excellent work habits, a willing spirit and cooperative in performing the tasks necessary to complete a project or task in a timely way. - Promote the success of the Drafting Department and the company with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic. - Adhere to established Safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for all associates. - Undertake and promote job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the Company's Core Values. - Support the wider resources team and other teams within the company. - Carry out assigned project and design work as part of an integral team adhering to technical and commercial standards - Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders and be committed to team approach and outcomes - Provide ongoing continuous improvement and development inputs to create more efficient workflows within the team - Check and ensure to receive all necessary drawings/documents to start the shop drawing (Architectural, Slab edge, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical in CAD and Hardcopies) - Discuss scope of work with the PM and Estimator to determine how we price and scope of work - Coordinate with the PM regarding the approved samples (color, finish, etc.) - Review shop drawings per internal review and responsible to keep track of revisions - Generate material take-off for glass, aluminum, flashing and frame - Coordinate with purchasing as required - Revise shop drawing from GC and responsible for all SI/revisions received thereafter - Prepare as-built shop drawing at the end of the project - Prepare an RFI for any discrepancy between drawings, design and installation issues or missing details - Always discuss and inform PM of issues with the project - Advise PM ahead of time if schedule will not be meet - Review site instructions with the PM to determine the cost implications - Release breakdown parts as required - Attend coordination meetings if necessary - Any other tasks assigned by the Department Manager. **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent **Salary**: From $60,000.00 per year **Benefits**: - Dental care - Extended health care Schedule: - 8 hour shift - Monday to Friday Ability to commute/relocate: - Burnaby, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required) Application question(s): - Do you have 5 years + in Window Wall and Curtain Wall Industry? **Experience**: - AutoCAD: 5 years (required) - drafting: 5 years (required) Work Location: One location
