Reporting to the Foreman or Superintendent, the Journeyman Carpenter will be responsible for all general carpentry duties required on construction projects ensuring work tasks are performed safely in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety legislation and company policies while ensuring work is performed with a high level of quality and timeliness.

This position is based in the Kamloops, BC area on a client site.

**Working Conditions**
- 40-hour work week
- Overtime as required
- Working both indoors and outdoors in hot and cold weather conditions
- Working in and around noise and dust

**Responsibilities**
- Operate hand tools, power actuated tools as required to perform tasks including inspecting and ensuring proper safe use.
- Install heating/hoarding, temporary fencing, guardrails, handrails, barriers and wood backing as required.
- Erect scaffold and related support as necessary.
- Participate in weekly safety meetings and daily tool box talks.
- Ensure proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is used for all tasks.
- Advise supervision of unsafe conditions or acts that may be a hazard or danger to self and other workers.
- Read blueprints and/or get instructions from supervision.
- Prepare layout including selecting materials, planning sequences and methods of work.
- Ensure work areas are kept clean and free of hazards.
- Ensure tools and equipment are returned to job boxes and tool cribs.
- Report all incidents, “near miss” incidents including damages/non-damage, injury/non-injury incidents.
- Review and participate in the preparation of safe work practices/procedures as required.
- Other tasks and duties as required on the jobsite.

**Qualifications**
- Journeyman Carpenter ticket or Registered Carpenter apprentice
- Non-ticketed equivalent with proof of hours and experience from a related trade
- 5+ years’ carpentry experience
- CSTS
- WHIMIS
- Fall Protection and Aerial Lift an asset
- General construction safety knowledge
- Valid driver’s licence
- Ability to take direction and follow through on instructions
- Positive attitude towards safety
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Superior focus on customer satisfaction
- Willing to join the CLAC Union

**Physical Requirements**
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate objects
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50lbs.; occasionally lift items weighing more than 50lbs. with assistance
- Climb up and down ladders, scaffolds and other objects
- Exposure to hazards such as heights, power tools, slips, falls, falling objects, and sharp hand tools
- Work at great heights

**Compensation and Benefits**
- Overtime is compensated as per the collective agreement

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
- Overtime

- Kamloops, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
