Family Connections Inc is focused on serving populations that are the hardest to serve and most vulnerable. The Community Support Worker (CSW) position is the front-line position working with an individual with complex needs (ADDICTIONS, TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY, TRAUMA, PERSONALITY DISORDER). The CSWs ensures the individual has a high quality of life possible in all areas of life. This position entails working with a specific client with complex needs.

This position requires FLEXIBILITY, and focuses on RISK MITIGATION.

In your role you will:

- Modelling and encouraging a healthy, substance-free lifestyle
- Connect with and develop helping relationships with individuals with complex and challenging behaviours.
- Work effectively as a team with the individual and their support team to help achieve their goals
- Evaluating the needs of clients
- Act as an advocate for individuals when needed
- Completion of daily documentation
- Risk mitigation
- maintaining or increasing the level of safety, well-being, permanency, and connection to supports available to their clients.
- Provides services to an individual and their families that are experiencing crisis or high-risk behaviors.
- You will provide de-escalation and stabilization to person(s) served that are in a state of crisis and/or presenting with high-risk behaviors.
- The worker will establish and maintain a respectful, collaborative working relationship with person(s) served, agency and family; provide assessment and information, as well as model and teach skills.
- Assess and interview the individual, record accurate and detailed case notes, and develop and maintain sustainable relationships with other professionals in the community.

Education/Experience:

- College or University Diploma preferred, however experience is valued and considered an asset (competency-based hire)
- Experience with addictions is an asset
- Experience working with individuals with Traumatic-brain injuries is an asset
- Demonstration of a healthy lifestyle will be an asset

*Mandatory Training & Clearances to be provided before starting:

- Criminal record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (within the last 6 months)
- Intervention Record Check (within the last 6 months)
- Standard First Aid with CPR (min. Level C)
- A valid Alberta Driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
- *Strong English reading/writing/speaking skills are required

Other Training (*Available from Family Connections Inc. AT NO COST to the employee)
- Medical Administration (necessary before starting)
- Suicide Awareness or Suicide Intervention training
- Cultural Awareness training/Indigenous Training
- *Abuse Protocols
- Restrictive Procedures
- Positive Behaviour Supports
- De-escalation
