Profile: The **Peer Support Coordinator** is responsible for the development and growth of MODC’s Peer Support Network, focussing on identifying the need for peer support in communities, establishing new support groups, supporting increased community awareness and participation of peer support services, ensuring optimal impact of peer support services, identifying, and developing resources to meet community needs, and fostering a positive and inclusive volunteer experience.
**Roles and responsibilities**
**Stakeholder Engagement and Community Building**:
- Develop relationships with community agencies, healthcare providers, and other stakeholders to expand the reach and influence of the Peer Support Network
- Collaborate with external partners to develop joint initiatives and leverage available resources.
- Represent MODC and the Peer Support Network at community meetings, conferences, and community events to promote the objectives of the program and the organization, and to identify potential collaborative opportunities.
- In conjunction with the After Stroke team, coordinate and deliver educational programs, conferences, and forums.
- Proactively problem solve and collaborate with colleagues, partners, volunteers and stakeholders to identify solutions which result in the best possible experience for volunteers and stakeholders.
- Contribute to the promotion of volunteer appreciation and recognition, with the goals of a positive and meaningful experience for all.
**Peer Group Support**:
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and ongoing assistance to peer support groups to ensure effective operations are established and/or sustained in the following areas:Administration and Finance practices
Engaging and equitable meeting facilitation that aligns with the Values of Peer Support
Relevance and accessibility of peer support services to local stakeholders
- Establish opportunities to foster connections with and among peer support volunteers to obtain and share relevant insights, resources, key learnings, and support.
- Facilitate clear and timely communication between MODC and peer support groups/volunteers.
- Encourage and facilitate fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability of the Peer Support Network.
- Adapt priorities and activities to meet changing needs of the team and as peer support services evolve.
- Support Change Management communications, delivering relevant messaging to peer support groups/volunteers with diplomacy and clarity.
**Evaluation, Quality Assurance and Reporting**:
- Implement evaluation standards for peer support services to demonstrate impact.
- Ensure relevant data is collected and entered into client and volunteer databases in an accurate, complete, and timely manner.
