EMSL Canada, one of the largest environmental testing firms in North America, is currently seeking a full time **Laboratory Analyst** specializing in Asbestos analysis for its Edmonton, AB laboratory location. This position offers a very competitive pay rate for trained asbestos analysts from competitor laboratories and the chance to work for a stable company that is team oriented and offers growth opportunities within the organization.

No laboratory experience is necessary, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees Experienced Asbestos PLM analysts are welcomed to apply. Offering competitive pay.

**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures.
Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
Record data in a specified manner.
Maintain and troubleshoot equipment when needed.
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.

**Requirements**:
Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry background.
Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petro-graphic microscope training a plus.
Some laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus.
One to two years of asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM experience is a plus, but not required - will train.
Must be able to work independently and with a team.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.
Must have good communication, computer, typing, and organizational skills.

**Available Shift**:
Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
