**Work Location Arrangement: Fully On-site**: The position requires 100% on-site placement; it is operationally dependent based on established criteria. Remote work is not an option.**:
**Salary: $27.93 - $31.71 per hour (as per CUPE collective agreement)**:
**Position summary**:
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Health Promotion Worker, using a community development approach, will support the operation of a Teaching Kitchen, and will work with staff, schools, and community partners to plan, organize, and implement community food literacy programming as guided by the Ontario Public Health Standards in accordance with PHSD policy and under the Health Protection and Promotion Act.
**Responsibilities**:
- Collaborates with staff and community partners to plan, organize, and implement food literacy programs, services, and projects to achieve the goals and objectives of the program.
- Provides approved resources to colleagues, the organization, and the community.
- Identifies supplies, equipment, and resources necessary to carry out food literacy programs.
- Assists with the preparation of annual work plans and reporting as required.
- Attends and actively participates in team meetings and professional development sessions.
- Maintains required documentation, as per agency policy, and progress reports.
- Conducts programming in a fiscally responsible fashion.
- Collaborates with colleagues on food literacy promotional materials, and media, as required.
- Other tasks as required (i.e., phone calls, bookings, purchase orders, etc.)
**Requirements**:
- Degree in Health Promotion and one year volunteer and/or work experience in community development involving food literacy and/or nutrition management and/or culinary skills is required.
- A degree in a related discipline may be considered in combination with additional health promotion and community development experience involving food literacy and/or nutrition management and/or culinary skills.
- Demonstrated community development experience working with multiple external partners.
- Utilizes various health promotion and community development strategies to support food literacy initiatives.
- Excellent group facilitation, public speaking and presentation skills targeted to diverse groups.
- Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft office and relevant data bases.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team that may include students and volunteers.
- Ability to work independently and as an integral team member.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills including effective problem solving, conflict resolution, negotiation and mediation skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Travel to district office areas will be required.
- Flexibility working outside normal working hours will be required.
- Advanced oral and written proficiency in English and French is essential.
- Current Ontario driver’s licence and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Satisfactory Police Records Check (Vulnerable Sector) is a condition of employment.
