**The Need**

The Georgian Bay Cancer Support centre offers a range of individual services and group programs to individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer, as well as their caregivers. As a federally regulated charity, our operations are funded entirely by the generosity of our supporters and grants we receive, and services our offered to members at no cost. Individuals are offered one-on-one counselling and support as a means to assist in developing coping strategies for processing a new diagnosis, change in health or treatment status, or any of the other challenges that may accompany one’s journey with cancer. Individuals typically receive this support on a relatively short-term basis (3-6 sessions) but cases are evaluated on an individual basis.

**Role Description**
- or part-time social worker/counsellor seeking an opportunity for a small additional workload through which they’re expertise will be contributing to the well-being of our community members. The one-on-one counsellor will be scheduled for bi-weekly blocks of up to three 1-hour sessions to meet our current demand.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Providing comprehensive, person-centred assessment and counselling related to challenges associated with cancer diagnoses, treatment, and other.
- Coordinate with Member Services Coordinator in order to create appropriate treatment plan for clients
- Safely and securely store all confidential records in alignment with GBCSC policies, relevant legislation, and the requirements of your governing college/license.
- Building a relationship of trust and respect with clients

**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary degree/diploma (MSW preferred) and current registration with clean record with relevant college or governing body
- 2 or more years of experience counselling individuals, preferably in contexts related to life-altering medical diagnoses.
- An understanding of the emotional and mental toll that accompanies a cancer diagnosis
- You must meet the requirements of our COVID-19 Immunization Policy by providing proof of full vaccination, or a request and receipt of an accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code, including a medical exemption

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 3-5 per week

**Salary**: From $75.00 per hour

- Penetanguishene, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
