**The Opportunity**

The Academic Advisor works directly with students to help them achieve their educational goals. With a strong knowledge of college regulations and procedures, the Advisor solves student issues, monitors their progress, and raises issues to faculty or administration. Academic Advisors proactively reach out to students and connect them with important resources that are tailored for their specific needs.

**Education/Experience**:
Undergraduate or master’s degree and at least 3 years’ experience in an education setting.

**Knowledge/Skills/Ability**:

- Excellent interpersonal and relational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in post-secondary education administration
- Experience with Canvas, Moodle, or similar Learning Management Systems
- Experience with Student Information Systems

**Essential Functions**:

- Provide advice and guidance to students about program progression, grades, and selection.
- Identify and contact students at risk of performing poorly.
- Reach out to assigned students to ensure they are on track to meet their educational goals.
- Connect students with other resources, including internal and external resources.
- Raise student concerns with faculty or administration.
- Work with the Accommodation Advisor on specific cases
- Collaborate on student accessibility requests or concerns.
- At faculty request, follow up with students about performance concerns.
- Solve student issues with access to textbooks and other academic resources.
- Support sales team in answering questions from potential students.
- Keep proper records and ensure that all student case work is documented.
- Participate in, or coordinate, academic events and workshops aimed at students and potential students.
