As a key member of the Warehouse team, you will play a central role in shaping our future success. You will be responsible for organizing and executing the daily pick-up and delivery objectives for the Warehouse by coordinating the scheduling and routing of driver trips and working closely with the drivers to achieve and maintain high service levels. The Dispatcher works closely with the Warehouse team to ensure all trips are coordinated, company resources are optimized, and customer/donor/stakeholder needs are being fully met and/or exceeded. The Dispatcher must have exceptional customer service, organizational and time management skills, and should be knowledgeable about our city routes.
- **What you’ll do**:_
- Track and report on Key Performance Indicator goals.
- Responsible for prioritizing incoming and outgoing products.
- Utilize Fleet software for scheduling, monitoring the fleet and drivers for improvements.
- Reviewing incoming product reports of scheduled pick ups to verify that all the information needed is documented.
- Coordinate and prioritize pick-ups from donors, providing exceptional customer service.
- Provide a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers.
- Liaise with various internal teams to coordinate timely deliveries to partner agencies.
- Working with the Senior Warehouse Manager to plan work schedules for all drivers and communicating work assignments.
- Coordinate with Fleet Coordinator to ensure the fleet is maintained and in safe working order.
- Field calls from donors, staff and drivers; responding appropriately to each and re-prioritizing depending on the situation. Escalate any retail partner concerns to the Manager of Food Stewardship.
- Accurately track and report food weights and logistics and oversee a variety of administrative tasks.
- Conduct training of volunteers and employees in the Dispatch area, ensuring a clear understanding of roles, expectations and a positive experience.
- **About You**:_
- Demonstrated experience in using dispatch software (preferably Samsara) is required.
- Proficient in MS Office (Outlook/Word/Excel) is required.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of people.
- Ability to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to read, write legibly and follow oral and written instructions.
- Knowledge of food-security and poverty issues (an asset).
- Training or logistics or related discipline is a substantial asset.
- 1-3 years of experience in a fast-paced dispatch and logistics role is required.
- Excellent customer service abilities with a natural desire to provide exceptional service and build strong relationships with drivers.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment to ensure accuracy, compliance, and a team culture of excellence.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to quickly understand and identify issues and propose solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license required; experience driving 3 & 5-ton trucks is required.
- A strong team focus, ability to work well with others and an interest in supporting the organization and its CREW.
