Job Summary
The Ski Resort Fleet Manager is responsible for the oversight, maintenance, and efficient operation of all vehicles and equipment within the resort's fleet. This includes snowcats, shuttles, snowmobiles, utility vehicles, and other machinery critical to resort operations. The role ensures all equipment is safe, reliable, and available to support daily resort activities and guest services.
Essential Job Functions

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Fleet Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations and utilization of the resort's fleet, ensuring vehicles and equipment are available and functional for snow grooming, guest transportation, and other resort activities.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Develop and manage maintenance schedules for all fleet vehicles and equipment. Coordinate with internal maintenance staff and external service providers to ensure timely and effective repairs.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure all fleet operations adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits and implement necessary safety protocols.
- Vehicle Acquisition: Determine the company's vehicle needs based on business requirements, operational demands, and budget constraints. Identify and evaluate potential suppliers or vendors for vehicle purchase or leasing options.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage the fleet budget, including costs for fuel, maintenance, repairs, and parts. Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety or quality.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of vehicle registration, insurance, maintenance logs, and inspection reports. Ensure documentation is current and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors, including suppliers of vehicles, parts, fuel, and maintenance services. Negotiate contracts to secure favorable terms.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and provide direction to the fleet management team, including mechanics, drivers, and support staff. Conduct performance evaluations, offer training, and ensure a high level of team performance.
- Reporting: Generate and present reports on fleet performance, including utilization rates, fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and downtime. Provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Technology Utilization: Implement and manage fleet management software to monitor vehicle performance, schedule maintenance, and track usage. Leverage technology to improve operational efficiency.
- Environmental Responsibility: Promote environmentally sustainable practices, such as the use of alternative fuels and efficient route planning, to minimize the resort's carbon footprint.

Required Qualifications and Abilities
- Education: Red seal HD Mechanic
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fleet management or a similar role, preferably within the ski resort or hospitality industry. Experience with heavy equipment and winter operations is highly desirable.
- Skills:

- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in fleet management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Analytical skills to assess and improve fleet performance.
- Knowledge of vehicle and heavy equipment maintenance.
- Ability to negotiate and manage vendor contracts.
- Other Requirements: Valid BC driver’s license and a clean driving record. Ability to work in outdoor and winter conditions.

**Working Conditions**:

- The Fleet Manager will work both in an office environment and outdoors in various weather conditions, including cold and snowy environments.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required during peak ski season.
- Occasional travel may be required for training or to manage fleet operations at other locations.
