Driving Instructor/examiner

Emcon Services Inc.is a proud Canadian based company with over 30 years of success as an interprovincial road and bridge maintenance contractor. We currently have an opportunity for enthusiastic individual to join our Ontario team as a Driving Instructor/Examiner.

**Reporting to the Vice President, the Driving Instructor/Examiner is responsible for**:

- Facilitate the development and maintenance of a detailed Driver Certification Program (DCP) for Ministry approval for the Ontario operations;
- Facilitate the development and maintenance of test routes to meet Ministry of Transportation (MTO) approval requirements for Signing Authority Status for AZ and DZ Licencing;
- Foster a positive working relationship with auditors to ensure compliance with Driver Certification Program (DCP);
- Maintain Signing Authority Status and operate as the Signing Authority for the Company (AZ and DZ);
- Provide positive and detailed driver training to ensure the driver trainee’s will be skilled and competent to meet the examination required to achieve the desired licences;
- Conduct training and examination for driver trainees to achieve A Licences (including MELT), D Licences, and Z Endorsements;
- Assist in reviewing, developing, and enhancing the training for the following company procedures: Pre / Post Trip Inspections, Coupling / Uncoupling, Trailer Inspections, Safe Cargo Loading, and others as required
- Foster positive working relationships with contracts to review driver performance as well as develop and maintain driver assessment criteria to be applied in contracts;
- Conduct driver assessments (pre-employment, routine and following accidents and incidents);
- Aid the Fleet Compliance Team to improve and maintain the company’s processes and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations;
- Assist in the review and audit of compliance documents as well as review and follow up on infractions, claims, convictions, incidents, and accidents as they occur;
- As required, assist in the development and delivery of non-driving related training;
- Other duties as required.

**Qualifications include**:

- College diploma or equivalent;
- Experience in providing training to driver’s that desire to expand and obtain their D, A, and Z endorsement licensing;
- Elite knowledge of the snowplow and trucks that will be provided by the company for training purposes;
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures;
- Possess excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills;
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, be able to meet deadlines, prioritize tasks and be detail oriented;
- Be computer literate and be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, excel);
- Be capable of multitasking and the ability to function in a dynamic environment with changing priorities;
- Have the ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Have the ability to take direction verbally and/or written;
- Demonstrate a positive attitude with high energy and be self-motivating;
- Have the ability to be flexible and adaptable with the ever-changing past paced work environment.

This is a non-unionized, salaried position.

Emcon Services has the following conditions of employment: satisfactory drug pre-screening and Driver’s Abstract.

**Salary**: $70,000.00-$730,000.00 per year
