Hydrovac Operator

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Safely and efficiently operate hydrovac trucks and equipment for various excavation and utility exposure projects.
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, ensuring all components are in good working order.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, industry regulations (e.g., OHSA), and client site-specific safety plans.
- Identify, locate, and safely expose underground utilities (gas, water, sewer, electrical, fiber optics) using hydro excavation techniques.
- Manage debris and spoils, ensuring proper disposal at designated sites.
- Conduct minor maintenance and troubleshooting on hydrovac equipment as needed.
- Complete accurate daily logs, safety documentation, pre-job hazard assessments, and other required paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, clients, and other contractors on job sites.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment and vehicle.
**Qualifications**:
- **Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience operating hydrovac trucks is essential.** (Specify if you need experience with specific types/sizes of units)
- Valid Ontario **DZ (or AZ) driver's license** with a clean driving abstract.
- Strong understanding of underground utility locating principles and practices.
- Knowledge of provincial safety regulations (e.g., Ontario Health and Safety Act, WSIB).
- Ability to read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and site plans.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions and challenging environments.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, as required by project demands.
- **Must be physically capable of performing duties, including lifting, bending, standing for long periods, and working in confined spaces when necessary.**
