**The Opportunity**

The Equipment Manager is responsible for managing the Company’s equipment fleet and other operational assets in alignment with project requirements and corporate objectives. They will ensure the fleet is appropriate for the current and anticipated future needs of the Company, and that it safely delivers the highest returns on assets deployed. This key role will work to ensure that acquisition, deployment and maintenance programs provide the best possible outcomes, measured in terms of financial performance, safety, efficiency and harmonious operations.
- Reports to the Vice President of Construction.
- Works closely with Senior Management, Project Managers, Project Superintendents, Foremen, as well as liaison with office-based accounting and administrative staff, as part of a collaborative team-based culture.
- Direct reports include equipment maintenance technicians.

Procurement and Asset Management:

- Optimize the strategic management of equipment & related field operations assets, including involvement in procurement, replacement, disposal, purchasing, cost-tracking, utilization, etc.
- Optimize service standards, policies and procedures.
- Manage vendor and manufacturer relationships for equipment, parts, fluids, tools, services, and warranty.
- Schedule and complete heavy equipment and vehicle appraisals as required.
- Schedule and complete Commercial Vehicle Inspections in preparation for fleet insurance renewal.
- Assist with annual ICBC fleet renewal, including disposals and additions as they arise.

Team & Sub-Contractor Management:

- Lead a team of direct and indirect reports responsible for maintenance and equipment deployment.
- Develop strategies to strengthen the team by assessing capabilities, proactively recruiting and developing talent for the future.
- Drive safety culture and ensure the highest safety, quality, and efficiency standards are maintained.

Equipment Management:

- Manage the equipment procurement processes, including assistance with the preparation of annual capital budgets and reports, return on capital analysis, buy vs. lease, and etc.
- Analyze life cycle and utilization rates and make recommendations on replacement, addition and/or divestiture of assets as needed.
- Analyze all equipment cost metrics continuously to ensure effective utilization and maintenance practices.
- Ensure effective equipment maintenance by developing and implementing comprehensive preventative and predictive equipment repair programs.
- Work with the field operations and accounting/administration teams to provide timely, relevant and accurate data for decision making and to optimize productivity, including developing KPIs to track and regulate equipment utilization, repair costs etc.
- Oversee the management of records, licenses, inspections, certifications, warranties, and service agreements.
- Manage effective and efficient workshop and yard operations.
- Ensure all equipment is clean, presentable and in a fit state to safely perform its primary function.
- Negotiate and manage any third-party equipment rentals.
- Organization, allocation, and certification of all small tools, chains/cables, and fall arrest equipment.
- Sea-Can organization, maintenance, and inventory.
- Installation, maintenance, and tracking of all Conwest signage and decals.
- Conduct routine, random, and delivery/return inspections of all Company-Owned Vehicles to ensure ongoing compliance with company policies and procedures.

Process Improvement:

- Further develop the shift to an integrated technology driven environment for tracking and assessing equipment use and condition, identifying location, gathering operational analytics, and capturing associate costs.
- Implement technology enhancements to optimize equipment utilization and effectiveness
- Work closely with leadership to promote the use of more energy efficient equipment and processes and provide practical efficiency solutions.
- Partner with equipment suppliers to drive leading edge approaches in equipment maintenance. Leverage equipment suppliers' capabilities to enhance the maintenance tools and processes
- Field support to Site Superintendents and Project Foremen to include equipment and tool needs.

**Qualifications, Skills and Competencies**:

- Red Seal Certified journey person - Heavy duty an asset.
- Knowledge of applicable provincial laws, ordinances, statutes, regulations, rules, policies and procedures.
- Proficiency in using the Company’s ERP system (Spectrum) and Construction Project Management Software (HCSS HeavyJob) among other systems.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience managing heavy equipment including buy/sell, repair/maintenance, and costing.
- Minimum 10 years’ supervisory experience.
- Self-directed, results-oriented, and highly motivated, requiring mínimal direct guidance.
- Experienced with the repair and operation of small tools and equipment.
