Options Bytown is seeking a dynamic individual for the position of Housing Specialist. As a
member of the Housing First team, the Housing Specialist is responsible for initiating contact
with landlords to market the Housing First program and secure rental apartments for clients.
The Housing Specialist will support the Case Managers and clients in the completion of housing
related documents and will facilitate ongoing communication and foster positive relationships
with landlords and community partners. Being a resource to landlords and the Housing First
team, the Housing Specialist will have a good understanding of the RTA, LTB and strong
mediation skills. Often being the first point of contact for landlords, the Housing Specialist will
be friendly and professional and will have strong communication and organizational skills.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS

Proactively recruit landlords and property managers to promote the Housing First
program and acquire new apartments for Housing First clients
- Maintain positive relationships with landlords involved in the program, offering
professional and timely responses to issues
- Arrange and attend apartment viewings with clients
- Complete move-in and move out inspections
- Liaise with landlords to ensure satisfaction with services received

lease and subsidy renewals
- Provide coaching to the Housing First team and clients on landlord communications
- Mediate housing issues and concerns between relevant parties
- Work with the Housing First team to stay up to date on client housing needs and
changes
- Create and maintain a database, tracking landlord communication and outcomes
- Act as a resource to the Housing First team and clients on the RTA and LTB procedures,
including facilitating mediation with landlords when appropriate
