Working closely with the Platoon Chiefs, the Platoon Training Instructor coordinates a variety of training endeavours. In accordance with Corporate and Fire Services policies, Standard Operating Guidelines and the Collective Agreement, the Platoon Training Instructor will work in close cooperation with the members of Fire Services' Technical Support special teams to deliver high quality services to external and internal customers while ensuring that sensitive matters and restricted information are dealt with in a confidential manner. **Work Performed**: - Report to the Director of Training. - Works collaboratively with Technical Rescue team leader and alternate leader and other supervisors to develop and coordinate training programs. - Coordinate scheduling of activities and the associated resources through the training division. - Conduct all duties and activities in accordance with Corporate and Fire Services' policies and Standard Operating Guidelines. - Report all unsafe conditions associates with equipment, or duties and activities. - Initiate timely evaluation, recommends and initiates corrective action related to unsafe or hazardous situations. - Work with all staff to promote and advance an environment and attitude of accident and injury prevention. - Deliver approved training as directed and scheduled. - Assist with planning and scheduling of education training and programs as required. - Develop and completed training needs and analyses and identifies needs for new, enhanced, or modified education and training programs. - Liaise with Division Heads, Officers, staff and external customers to identify and prioritize needs - Review existing education, training and developmental programs to identify strengths, weaknesses and needs. - Review existing legislation, regulations, standards, and "best practices" to ensure compliance and where necessary recommends changes to guideline, processes, program, etc. - Review programs and recommends modifications related to program objectives, teaching strategies and/or evaluation techniques as required. - Participate in the development, maintenance and administration of examination and other evaluation methods for Fire Services. - Participate in the development and maintenance of a training records information systems and database. - Ensure that all activities and duties performed meet the legislative requirements for and address all issues related to health and safety and all other relevant legislation. - Complete reports and forms as required ensuring the content structure, and accuracy meets Fire Services standards, with respect to content, structure, accuracy and order in a legible and grammatically correct manner. - Analyse information and reports to identify education and training needs necessary to counteract trends related to injuries, fire losses, etc. - Attend at court and provides evidence as required. - Attend and participates in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing sessions when requested. - Attend meetings as requested - Respond to a major emergency scene to provide assistance to the Incident Commander as requested. - Performs related duties as assigned. **Qualifications**: Successful Completion of the NFPA 1041 Leve I Fire Service Instructor and/or OFM equivalent Possess an Ontario DZ driver's license or within six months of appointment, obtain a provincial DZ driver's license. **Experience**: A minimum of 10 years fulltime firefighting experience. **Specialized Training & Licenses**: - Successful completion of the NFPA 1021 Level I Fire Officer and/or OFM equivalent & Successful completion of the NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer and/or OFM equivalent wou
