It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to broadly provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. With over 30 years of highly successful experience in crafting the design, development, and delivery of a wide range of effective, client-centered services, TI continues to deliver quality programs and services that directly benefit our growing urban Inuit population.
The Assistant Director of Healing and Wellness will support the Director of Healing and Wellness in leading and managing the organization’s wellness and healing programs. This role will help ensure the integration of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) and Inuit values into all services, fostering a culturally integrated and holistic approach to health and wellness for urban Inuit. The Assistant Director, under the mentorship of the Director of Healing and wellness, will also provide day-to-day management of staff, including the Inuit Health Liaison, Ontario Inuit Cancer Care Team, and Counselling Team, and assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of wellness programs.

**Responsibilities**:
Program Development and Reporting
- Assist the Director in the development and oversight of programs, ensuring the inclusion of culturally relevant healing and wellness perspectives that integrate Inuit traditional knowledge and contemporary practices - using a two-eyed seeing approach.
- Provide operational oversight to ensure programs run smoothly and align with the strategic goals of the organization.
- Support the coordination of services provided by the Inuit Health Liaison, Cancer Care Team, Counselling Team, and other appropriate team members, ensuring cohesive program delivery.
- Support the Director in monitoring the effectiveness of programs, including gathering data and community feedback to assess outcomes.
- Assist in preparing reports for the organization and funders, highlighting key accomplishments and areas for improvement.
- Ensure that program evaluations are conducted through an Inuit lens, focusing on holistic health outcomes

Staff Supervision, Human Resources and Capacity Building
- Supervise and mentor staff, ensuring team collaboration and alignment with Inuit values and practices. Participation in corrective and disciplinary meetings when necessary and required.
- Provide day-to-day guidance to team members, offering support and troubleshooting issues that arise during program implementation.
- Focus on providing staff with the information, training, resources, and support necessary for them to succeed in their roles while following all TI policies and procedures.
- Foster professional development opportunities for the team, encouraging growth in culturally safe and trauma
- informed care practices.

Community Engagement
- Work with the Director of Healing and Wellness to build strong relationships with Inuit Elders, community members, and external partners, ensuring community needs and voices are central to program design and delivery.
- Assist in efforts aimed at improving access to culturally appropriate services for Inuit in urban settings, particularly in health and mental wellness.
- Engage with community members to gather feedback on program offerings and adapt services to reflect the evolving needs of the Inuit community.

Collaboration and Partnerships
- Collaborate with internal TI teams, external health organizations, and Inuit partners to develop and expand healing, culture and wellness initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between different service areas (e.g., Cancer Care, Counselling, Culture department, and Health Liaison services), ensuring seamless coordination and communication.

Operational and Financial Management
- Oversee daily administrative tasks, budget monitoring, and resource allocation for the healing and wellness programs.
- Assist in maintaining compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and Tungasuvvingat Inuit organizational standards.
- Supports the Director in completing the budget for programs and submitting accurate quarterly and annual reports to government and other funders.
- Work closely with the Director to monitor, evaluate and communicate property maintenance requirements and assess and address ongoing operational needs with regard to healing and wellness programs at TI.

**Qualifications**:
Knowledge of and appreciation for Inuit culture and values and exemplifying the 8 Guiding Principles of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit; Knowledge of the unique needs and issues impacting Inuit communities. Familiarity with Inuit history and the impacts of colonization and the legacy of: Inuit colonization; Residential Schools; Intergenerational trauma; Ontario’s Inuit history; Social determinants of health
