Planner/scheduler (Transit Fleet) - Full Time

Develops preventive maintenance schedules and work plans for transit fleet to support the delivery of effective preventive maintenance practices and meet legislative requirements. Works with management to coordinate preventive maintenance activities. Analyzes maintenance and life cycle costs to prepare reports for management. Administers the fleet management system.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
- Knowledge of fleet maintenance operations and processes, vehicles, and equipment, including administration, preventive/predictive maintenance practices/planning/scheduling, life-cycle cost analysis, and a fleet management system.
- Knowledge acquired through a 2-year diploma in a related field (e.g., Automotive Technology, Business Administration, Engineering Technology/Technician) plus 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience such as a Grade 12 education plus 5 years of related experience in a fleet/automotive service environment.
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, and related legislation (e.g., Highway Traffic, Transport Canada, health and safety).
- Analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills to develop efficient and effective preventive maintenance schedules, track and report on variances (e.g., estimated vs actual resources used), calculate life-cycle costs, and ensure work orders and documentation is complete/accurate.
- Communication and interpersonal skills to provide information to management; and participate as an effective team member.
- Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office and Access, a work order management system, and Crystal Reports.
- Ability to read and understand work orders and job specifications/details, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to write correspondence; complete work orders; and run data reports.
- Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.
