**Position Overview**

The Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) is a bilingual, full-service, regional, 100-bed hospital, providing high-quality care to the residents of Prescott-Russell and surrounding areas. HGH provides a full range of medical and inpatient care programs and services from its main campus in Hawkesbury and two satellite mental health centres in Clarence-Rockland and Casselman.

In 2020, HGH completed a $200M redevelopment resulting in a modern, bright and healing environment requiring a Facility Manager to protect this important investment.

The Facility Manager is a key person in preserving the Hospital’s exceptional environment of care and safety of patients, visitors and staff, for operating and maintaining hospital facilities.

He is responsible for supervising, managing and organizing the maintenance and repair of buildings and infrastructures. He or she manages maintenance personnel, draws up maintenance plans and manages the allocated budget.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to assure asset preservation of buildings, clinical and non-clinical equipment, landscaping and parking, improving facility reliability and minimizing deferred maintenance
- Manage the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all Hospital building systems and related equipment, with particular attention to patient safety and infection control (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, medical gases, fire safety systems, etc.)
- Directly lead a team of about 6 maintenance personnel, providing technical leadership: training, mentoring, coaching, and fostering a culture of ownership and commitment. Manage daily activities including planning, prioritizing and assigning tasks to the staff members.
- Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical managers in opportunities for process improvements
- Conduct building assessments, analyze data, and develop recommendations for capital replacement plans and requests for HIRF and CIRF funding
- Negotiate and manage service contracts, including gas and electricity utilities, and assure vendor performance management
- Manage minor modifications requests and maintenance-related projects
- Collaborate on emergency preparedness plans
- Lead energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives and reporting
- Administer Facility Management annual operating budgets and develop forecasts
- Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and industry standards (i.e. provincial and municipal building codes and regulations, Ministry of Labour, TSSA, ESA, Accreditation Canada, CSA Health Standards, etc.)
- Manage Clinical Engineering equipment lifecycle through needs assessments, budgeting, procurement, commissioning, and preventive and repair maintenance, with diverse vendors including the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO); monitor and respond to operational requirements and assure accurate records and reports
- Remain current in healthcare facilities issues through networking and participation with CHES, ASHE and other local and national healthcare organizations

- All new HGH employees will be required to obtain and provide a satisfactory Police Records Check dated within six (6) months from the date of issue.
- As of now, HGH will require all employees, physicians, learners, contractors and volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

**What we are looking for**

Education:

- Minimum requirement: Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technologist degree or Facilities Management Certificate (or other related field)
- Ideal requirement: Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree

**Experience**:

- 3-5 years maintenance management or construction management; experience in a healthcare environment is highly desirable

Key competencies:

- Understanding of regulatory drivers in healthcare and technical expertise in building systems and equipment maintenance; ability to digest technical jargon and read engineering drawings
- Stong knowledge of health and safety regulations
- Demonstrated ability
