Job Summary:
**Hours of Work**:
35 hours per week Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Evening and weekend hours should be expected.

**Your role**:

- Provide leaders and staff support and coaching to help the organization achieve their objectives through community engagement.
- Create, evaluate, and evolve policies, frameworks and operating procedures related to the delivery of community engagement.
- Help the City integrate the voice of diverse interest-holders into the complex decisions leaders and Council are faced with making and that have the potential to affect organizational trust and reputation.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate community engagement programs that are aligned with the business goals, support organizational objectives, and align with international best practices/standards related to community engagement.
- Support operational projects by developing comprehensive public facing engagement projects; creating engagement project budgets; managing engagement project performance; and ensuring engagement projects are delivered on time and on budget.
- Help nurture an innovative, resilient, service-oriented, high-performance work culture.
- Develop options and recommend solutions that strengthen existing partnerships and foster new relationships with both internal and external interest-holders.
- Build the community's capacity to participate in community engagement initiatives.
- Develop and steward relationships with diverse equity-denied groups including local Indigenous communities.
- Collaborate with community organizations and groups to advance shared priorities.
- Participate on cross-functional teams and both internal and external committees.
- Educate and train staff on community engagement related principles and best practices.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

- Proven ability to exercise good judgement, make data-informed decisions, think critically, and act with a client
- and citizen-first focus.
- Ability to manage sensitive, multi-interest-holder engagements with diplomacy, conflict-management skills, and creating safer spaces.
- Ability to work well under pressure, complete multiple assignments, and function effectively in a high-volume workplace with tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work with individuals of all professional levels and of diverse experience.
- Ability to develop and nurture co-operative and constructive relationships with individuals at various levels of the organization and members of Council.
- Ability to establish and maintain co-operative and constructive relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, members of Council, and representatives of external organizations.
- Understanding of data collection and analysis methodologies, especially with respect to community engagement, and ability to surface insights to support decision-making across the organization and at Council.
- Knowledge of applicable legislation, such as the Municipal Act and the Environmental Assessment Act, that outline standards for getting input from the community.
- Knowledge of legislated requirements related to the Duty to Consult with Indigenous communities.
- Knowledge of emerging practices related to inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, reconciliation, and anti-racism.
- Ability to use online engagement platforms and digital collaboration tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Excellent project management, facilitation, research, writing and editing skills.
- Previous experience and/or knowledge of municipal government is an asset.
