**Job Description**:
- Reporting to the Afternoon Shift Leader, the Material Handler/QA is responsible for, but not limited to, operating the forklift, acquiring materials to help facilitate production, helping to organize the warehouse, assisting with QA first-off quality checks, and meeting all established standards of safety, quality, productivity and good housekeeping within Heritage Coffee.
- Responsible for maintaining safe working conditions and following all Safety Rules at Heritage Coffee Co. Ltd. Follows all policies and procedures and ensures compliance to the Heritage Coffee Co. Ltd. employee handbook.
- Responsible for following all work instructions and complying with Company standards on the use of personal protective equipment.
- Responsible for following all SQF guidelines and policies in letter and in spirit.
- Pre-use inspection of assigned forklift at the start of each shift.
- Driving the forklift in a safe manner strictly observing forklift driving codes of conduct.
- Maintain the equipment used and keep the working areas clean and organized at all times.
- Plan, organize and expedite material delivery and removal to all packers in various types of storage containers, including but not limited to coffee, film and boxes.
- Helping to organize the warehouse by restocking film, reorganizing previously received or used materials and ensuring all materials are returned to the proper storage locations.
- Make recommendations to the Shift Leader and other members of management on any suggested modifications of material flow to optimize production and space usage.
- Help team members in solving work-related issues and report any challenges you are facing to Shift Leader to ensure a timely and professional resolution.
- Assist with other duties and responsibilities in the production department as they arise during the shift and are requested by the Shift Leader.
Qualifications:
- 1-3 year’s prior experience in a similar role or a combination of internal experience and training.
- Forklift experience an asset.
- Minimum grade 12 or equivalent, and previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in the operation of computers and computer software.
- Great observation and multi-tasking skills and the ability to react to changing conditions.
- Ability to troubleshoot and communicate problems to Shift Leader/Supervisor, Maintenance Dept. and/or QA Dept. as required.
- Must understand health and safety hazards and controls in a manufacturing environment.
- Aware of and wears all personal protective equipment.
- Follows GMP regulations and guidelines.
- Understands and practices safe operating procedures.
- Accuracy and attention to detail with strong work ethic.
Pay: From $19.50 per hour
