**Job description**

BCRI is part of the NORAM group of companies, which provides an established, vertically-integrated platform for commercializing innovative technologies from their conceptual phase through pilot plant testing and full-scale industrial production. Located on Mitchell Island, BC Research Inc. partners with its affiliated companies and external clients to support the continued development of innovative chemical processes through to the implementation of industrial scale chemical plants, and upgrades to existing pilot plants.

We are seeking a Chemical Operations Technician to join our team and whose initial focus will be to support our sister company, NORAM Electrolysis Systems Incorporated (NESI). NESI is a leading supplier of advanced electrochemical systems and has pilot and commercial scale demonstration plants located at BC Research.

This is a physically demanding role, requiring the handling of chemicals and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Safely operate and maintain electrochemical pilot plant equipment and systems, including pumps, reactors, and heat exchangers.
- Transfer chemicals and make up chemical solutions according to established procedures.
- Monitor and control process parameters, such as temperature, pressure, and flow rate, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform repairs as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as replacing filters and cleaning equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment operation and maintenance activities.
- Assist the process engineering team with process optimization and new product development.
- Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols and procedures.

**Qualifications**:

- High school diploma or equivalent required. Diploma in Chemical Technology or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a chemical plant operator or related field.
- Knowledge of chemical process equipment and systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work rotating shifts and weekends as needed.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
