**Position**:Morning/Afternoon Cook, Part time
**Hours of work**:5:30am -2:00 pm or 10:00am to 6:30pm
**Effective Date**: Immediately
**Core Function**: The primary function of this position is ensuring that resident meals are prepared to the highest quality and served in a pleasant and efficient manner. The cook will uses standardized recipes, maintains portion control, and determines appropriate quantities of food needed to meet menu requirements. As well, after meal service periods assists with ware washing operations and other assigned cleaning responsibilities. Physically challenging position requires standing/walking for long periods of time. Fifty percent of shift involves working with a variety of cleaning solutions in a hot, humid environment as well as lifting items up to 50 pounds in weight.

**Qualifications**:
**Education**
- Food Handlers Certificate (current)
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
- Must be able to understand and follow verbal and written instructions
**Experience**
- One to two years of training and experience in quantity food production is required.
- Must have formal and on-the-job training in quantity food preparation, cooking, food and equipment safety, and sanitation.
**Personal**
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to interact with families, residents and other team members is essential
- Current Vulnerable Police Check is required
**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Weekends as needed
**Experience**:
- Cooking: 1 year (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Handler Certification (required)
- Chef Training or Culinary Management Diploma (preferred)
- Healthcare Food Service Worker Certificate or equivalent (preferred)
