Summer Child & Youth Counsellor

**Position**: Summer Elementary Groups Program (5 Positions)

This summer, we will be offering four psychoeducational groups for elementary students who would like to learn new skills and enhance their well-being. The four groups will be: TRAILS grades 3-5, TRAILS for Wellness grades 6-8, (modified) PEERS® grades 6-8 and You are A Social Detective© grades 2-4.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Co-facilitate two groups each day (separate groups of students for each group) with another CYC(s)

Provide comprehensive, culturally responsive, neuro affirming and inclusive support to students

Deliver evidence-based programming for up to 8 students

Maintain Child and Youth Counsellor Standards of Practice for record keeping and service delivery as per HDSB

Child and Youth Counsellors will provide service in accordance with the OACYC Code of Ethics

**Qualifications**:
The minimum education required for this position is a 3 year, Child and Youth Counsellor diploma

Current membership with The Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors is considered

Current ASK and BMS training

**Knowledge**:
Demonstrated knowledge and experience providing group support and strategies to promote and support student well-being

Demonstrated experience leading/initiating student learning related to student well-being

Experience with delivery of PEERS®, TRAILS for Wellness, You Are a Social Detective© preferred

Fluid use of neuroinclusive and asset-based language

Groups will be in person at Post’s Corners Public School

Dates & Times

July 4th - Day to plan for the groups with co-facilitating CYC(s) (6 hours)

Program runs on July 8, 9, 10, 11, 15, 16, 17, 18 - Onsite from 8:45am-12:15pm (plus an hour of prep and documentation time a day). Total of 4.5 hours each of these days (except July 4th, which is 6 hours of work).

**Appointments are conditional upon**:
Provision of an original copy of a criminal background check with vulnerable sector screening dated within 6 months

Agreement to comply with the Board’s policies, procedures and code of conduct

The Halton Region has been growing fast and growth is projected to remain strong for the foreseeable future. The region's population is anticipated to almost double in size by 2051, from a current population of 596,637 to a projected population of 1,100,000 by 2051.

**Position**:
