Alberta Pork is a non-profit organization representing all of Alberta’s hog producers. Alberta Pork educates the public about the pork industry, and represents producers’ interests to the government, the industry, the media, and the general public.
**Position Summary**:
Alberta Pork is looking for a creative and innovative Communications and PR Manager to join their team. This person is not only an excellent collaborator but is also highly skilled in creating a strategic communications plan. Do you thrive in environments where you can be hands on? If so, this may be the role for you. We are seeking an experienced individual to elevate our communications strategy, public awareness activities, and government advocacy plans to new heights.
This position is a hybrid style role. Joining our team offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment that values creativity, collaboration, and doing what is best for our pork producers.
**Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities**
- Create a strategic communication plan that meets the Alberta Pork brand.
- Develop and implement corporate communications (newsletters, annual reports, etc).
- Evaluate the impact of communication efforts.
- Lead our customer relations strategy through creative storytelling and engagement opportunities.
- Develop our government advocacy efforts on behalf of our members.
- Manage messaging to internal and external stakeholders.
- Use creativity and innovation to re-develop an engaging and inspiring website.
- Manage messaging and consistent branding throughout the company communications.
- Coordinate with team members and contractors, as applicable, to ensure a unified voice.
- Manage messaging across various platforms including YouTube, LinkedIn, Meta, and Instagram.
- Act as the Editor of the Canadian Hog Journal for distribution to members.
- Develop and oversee promotional strategies for events, leveraging various marketing channels and platforms.
- Coordinate with staff, external contractors, and partners to facilitate event promotion.
- Maintain event calendars, timelines, and schedules, ensuring that all team members and stakeholders are well-informed and aligned with event plans.
**Qualifications**
- 5+ years of previous experience in Communications, Marketing and/or Public Relations
- Previous management experience would be considered an asset.
- Social media marketing experience, including platforms like YouTube, LinkedIn, Meta, Instagram.
- Excellent writing and verbal skills.
- Previous editing experience considered an asset.
- Proficiency in marketing and design software.
- Experience with Microsoft Office 365.
- Project management skills.
- Can operate in a collaborative team atmosphere or on own.
- Must provide a valid driver’s license.
**Education**
- Post-secondary education in a related field, or equivalent combination of experience and training.
