We are looking for a dynamic **Legal Counsel**to join our Global Commercial, Contracts and Corporate Legal Services (CCL) team.
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Manage all aspects of Commercial and Corporate legal and litigation issues for the German office which includes providing pre-litigation counseling to internal teams.
- Become a trusted advisor to cross-functional partners across Hatch, including Legal, commercial and other business teams in order to provide counsel in respect of existing and potential litigation matters.
- Advise on litigation risks and provide insights and/or relevant training to other members of Hatch’s business where required
- Partner with outside counsel to take an active role in litigation and disputes, develop strategy to manage and successfully resolve claims.
- Collaborate with other external in-house counsel and legal organizations on litigation and policy matters that have the potential to affect Hatch’s worldwide operations.
- Help to ensure compliance with developments in Canadian laws and regulations
- Assist as necessary in the other work of the Canadian legal team
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Fully qualified lawyer authorized to practice law in Germany with experience in private practice or an in-house legal team in Canada
- 5+ years of experience in litigation (with emphasis on employment litigation) and the possession of following skills:
- legal drafting (including but not limited to pleadings, responses, briefs etc.)
- development and execution of litigation strategy
- litigation management (including working with external counsel, managing litigation budgets and litigation reporting)
- advocacy experience at superior court, arbitral or tribunal level
- Familiarity with online collaborative workspace technologies including Microsoft SharePoint
- Ability to work collaboratively, independently, strategically, and with sound judgment
- Excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects under deadlines
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
**_ Preferred Qualifications _**- commercial and/or professional liability litigation experience
