**Your Opportunity**

We are seeking a team leader who is client focused, a creative thinker, takes initiative, and is capable of building, launching, and managing effective cost control and scheduling services that provide transparency. Heavy emphasis will be placed on increasing value through continuous improvement and ongoing digitalization; process simplification; quality assurance and reporting; and increasing all staff’s awareness and compliance of sector defined cost control and scheduling standards, procedures, and tools.

This position will directly supervise cost control and scheduling specialists as part of a shared services team across Stantec’s Mining Business Line Canadian offices, while aligning with other entities within Stantec’s Energy & Resources sector.

Occasional travel will be required.

**Your Key Responsibilities**
- Accountable for the level of service within the business center, and will work with leadership to determine the roles, responsibilities, and staffing levels required to achieve efficient delivery of cost control and scheduling services.
- Identify, implement, and maintain the complete control structure, tools and procedures needed for the program based on the contracting strategy, execution plan and the risks identified for different projects.
- Provide strategic guidance to the cost controls and scheduling team, consistent with the different project’s execution strategy.
- Develop and oversee teams made up of cost control and scheduling professionals spread across the business unit.
- Support Project Managers to manage Client expectations and coach others to develop and maintain effective relationships with Clients.
- Interface with the Client, Project Management Office team members, technical project team, finance, and legal professionals to ensure efficient implementation of the project controls.
- Support the business development team in the bid development process, by providing input in the schedule and fee development.
- Timely identification, notification, resolution, and recording of deviations from agreed / baseline plan (scope, man-hours, cost, and schedule) including trending on items that have a potential for future impact within project scope.
- Use of Earned Value methods for forecasting for project costs to determine EAC. Implement methods of effective progress measurement based on the size and complexity of projects.
- Responsible for Change Management including assisting or developing the change requests, and tracking and reporting of all project exposures pending, approved, and rejected.
- Provide information to the client, project team, and corporate management for enterprise and portfolio reporting. Reports and offers updates of actual man-hours and invoiced, incurred, physical progress, forecast to complete, key and/or critical issues, and scheduled achievements relative to the status of the project.
- Review project invoices and interface with the Project Accounting / Billing teams and organize corrections for correct collection of revenues.

**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
- The position requires substantial influence and communications skills. The incumbent must have demonstrated supervisory and proven leadership skills, along with knowledge and ability to manage a diverse group of personnel, including remote personnel.
- High project financial acumen and knowledge of project accounting principles surrounding cost and revenue.
- General understanding of all phases of project controls.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting and to engage in creative and critical thought.
- Thorough understanding of project controls concepts and ability to effectively communicate ideas to others.
- Advanced oral and written communication skills.
- Adaptability and flexibility including the ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity, and change.
- Ability to multi-task, work on several projects or tasks at once, manage time, organize, and set priorities.
- Positive attitude with strong relationship building skills.

**Education and Experience**
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Business Management or related field, or combination of experience and education.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of industry experience.
- Minimum of 3 years in providing leadership, with a focus on coaching, mentoring, and
