**EXPERIENCED FULL TIME CASHIER / BACK-UP HEAD CASHIER NEEDED FOR HIGH END SUPERMARKET - NORTH END OF TORONTO - COMPETITIVE HOURLY WAGE PLUS BENEFITS.**

The employer, a high volume, high end supermarket seeks detail-oriented individuals to join their Customer Service Team as Cashiers. Cashiers should be passionate about food and customer service.

**WORKING HOURS**:
40 Hours per week. 4 weekdays including 2 evenings and 1 weekend day.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
**Cashier**

Provide great customer service.

Scan products and process customer transactions accurately.

Support in the delivery of company-directed promotions and programs.

Handle cash and credit card transactions.

Keep the register area neat and stocked with essential supplies.

Assist customers with general inquiries.

Be aware of advertised items and product location.

Participate in floor moves, product display, maintenance, and store housekeeping.

Be a team player and help your team members as needed.

Adhering to all company policies, procedures and practices including signing, pricing, and loss prevention.

**Backup Head Cashier**

On days when the Head Cashier is off, or, when additional support is needed in the Bookkeeping Office, the Backup Head Cashier will assist the Head Cashier with the following tasks:
Manage money - opening and closing, cashier floats, cash exchange, appropriate record keeping, etc.

Supervise and co-ordinate cashiers.

**REQUIREMENTS**:
Experience as a cashier in a supermarket or specialty food store.

Experience as a Head Cashier or Backup Head Cashier.

Lead by example and being an effective team player..

Excellent English language communication skills

Adaptable in a fast-paced work environment.

Resourceful and courteous when resolving inquiries.

Flexibility to work a variety of hours which may include days, evenings, and weekends.

Able to move 25lbs and remain in a stationary or standing position for entire shifts.

Dedication to delivering an exceptional Customer experience.

Be an effective and positive communicator - have great listening skills, patience and know how to de-escalate challenging situations.

Experience with handling cash, and operating a register/POS (Point of Sale System).

Food Safety Handlers Certification is an asset.

Flexible availability to work morning, evening and weekend shifts with the ability to accommodate various shift coverages on short notice.

Comfortable standing for extended durations of time.

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
