**HR Generalist**
- Pay range: starting at $65,000/year _

Smythe is seeking a proactive, dedicated, team-oriented HR Generalist passionate about fostering a positive workplace culture and delivering high-quality HR support to join our People & Culture team of four. As an HR Generalist, you will play a key role in managing and supporting the daily operations of the HR function, including onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and other general HR activities. **The Opportunity**

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive individual to join our team as an HR Generalist. In this role, you will have the chance to contribute to all aspects of HR operations, from talent acquisition to employee development, while also helping to shape our firm’s people strategies.

**Your Responsibilities**
- Onboarding: Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires to ensure a smooth experience/integration into the firm.
- Employee Relations: Act as a reliable point of contact for employees and managers, offering guidance on HR policies, procedures, and workplace matters while promoting a positive work environment. Respond to employee inquiries with professionalism and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Employee Engagement: Lead and coordinate employee engagement initiatives such as recognition programs, wellness activities, and employee surveys to promote a strong organizational culture.
- Performance Management: Support managers and employees through performance evaluation processes, offering coaching on feedback, development plans, and goal setting.
- HR Compliance: Ensure compliance with federal and provincial employment laws and internal policies. Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records.
- Policy Development & Implementation: Assist in developing and updating HR policies and procedures, aligning them with business objectives, maintaining legal compliance and best practices.
- HR Systems Management: Maintain HRIS systems, ensuring accurate employee data and leveraging technology to streamline HR operations and reporting.

**What We’re Looking For**
- A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-4 years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar role, preferably within a professional services or CPA firm.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, employment legislation, and best practices.
- Proficiency in HR software and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with HCMS like UKG, Oracle Taleo, etc.
- Ability to adapt to technology quickly and look for efficiencies, with an interest in AI use.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
- Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with employees and management.
- High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
- A collaborative, team-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently.

**Additional Requirements**
- Flexibility to be in the office at least three - four days a week (after completing probation)
- Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods.
