**Manager of Resident Care**

(Permanent Full-Time)

**Role and Responsibilities**:

- Coordinates the clinical care team to ensure the delivery of quality resident care and services
- Coordinates resident's health and wellness needs and assessments; assists in all aspects of care delivery as needed
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of goals, objectives, policies, procedures and systems for all operational areas of resident care
- Coordinates family meetings as needed
- Resolves resident and family complaints and escalates to the Executive Director when appropriate.
- Assists with resident admission and discharge processes as necessary
- Directs, manages, coaches and mentors staff to motivate and bring about efficiency and creativity
- Participates in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvements
- Coordinates services with internal/external care partners
- Coordinates medication management including staff orientation and the on-going monitoring
- Maintains positive communication with the families and/or responsible parties of residents on a regular basis to keep them aware and informed of the status of their family member
- Develops, coordinates and implements orientation and on-going professional development for staff
- Applies the home’s mission, vision, and values in own role and inspires staff to do the same
- Ensures legislative requirements are followed (i.e. RHA, IPAC, WSIB, OH&S, Fire Safety etc.)
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualification and Experience**:

- Current Registered Practical Nurse designation, in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- A minimum of 2 years in Retirement Residences required
- A minimum of 2 years of management/supervision experience preferred.
- Health Care Leadership/Management Certificate will be considered an asset.
- Strong clinical knowledge with a focus in gerontology in order to provide direction and guidance to the registered and non-registered staff
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with staff, residents, families, community professionals and various outside partner
- Works effectively as a multi-disciplinary team member and leads by values driven example
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word/Excel/Power Point)
- Knowledge of the requirements of the RHA, appropriate sections of the Registered Health Professionals Act, Narcotic Control Act, and Occupational Health and Safety Act
