The Manager’s role is responsible for reviewing, refining and assisting with the development of Compliance, Risk Management, Fraud Detection, industry (Card Brand, Acquirer), and regulatory (Government, Legal) compliance programs including new initiatives and policy development for Merrco.

Knowledge of risks which impact merchant processors, acquirers and Card Brands are essential. (e.g. Fraud, Loss management, merchant portfolio and emerging risks); Broad understanding of Merchant and Consumer regulations (e.g. the Card Brand rules and any applicable laws/by-laws) which may have a reputational impact on the firm.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for Merchant onboarding underwriting, compliance assessment and business model determinations for both US and Canadian based merchants. Providing guidance to junior underwriters. This includes both Point-of-Sale and Ecomm card processing.
- Lead all Regulatory Compliance matters for Merrco. Lead reporting into the broader Compliance Committee with a reporting line into the COO/CCO for Merrco compliance
- Conduct enterprise-wide educational sessions with respect to relevant legislation and regulatory guidance ensuring best compliance practices for Canadian and US regulatory standards are met.
- Oversee and respond to Card Brand, Partner and third-party compliance or monitoring actions to address, action, report or resolve concerns with potential and existing Merchant portfolio.
- Responsible for managing Merchant portfolio risk, conducting regular risk assessments, targeted re-adjudication reviews including Compliance, Card and Risk monitoring assessment programs for the firm ensuring merchant portfolio risks are managed and mitigated.
- Review Agent initiated merchant origination to ensure new merchants adhere to card brand and acquirer standards for business model, website practices and card brand network security.
- Document risk processes, best practices and routines for use by the Risk Management function, operations and the sales functions.
- Assist with automating and simplifying routines used in regular risk programs to manage the efficiency and advance their utilization.
- Oversee Risk and Compliance adherence from all frontline sales and operations units.
- Proactive management of risk reporting and tools to minimize and mitigate potential concerns which are arising from the merchant portfolio.
- Assess the impact of regulatory developments services and provide relevant and timely guidance
- Continually evolve the design, content and training material of Risk owned documents
- Manage the resolution of all merchant issues which may pose a risk to the firm.
- Underwriting and compliance to support on-boarding of clients and registration activities. Ensure compliance with PCS and Card Brand policies, including Code of Conduct.
- Support the coordination of internal and external Audits or Regulatory reviews
- Duties or projects as assigned from time to time.
