**JOB SUMMARY**:
The **Truck Body Shop Helper** assists with the repair of damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards. Experience may include, but is not limited to: Cab/Sheet Metal Repair, Composite Bonding/ Repair/, Heating/Air Conditioning Systems, Surface Preparation, Fiberglass Repair, and Box Repair/ Replacement.

**REQUIREMENTS OF ROLE**:
Education**:

- High school diploma or equivalent.

**Experience**:

- At least 1-3 years of practical body shop experience is preferred.
- Some training and experience in the repair/refinish of all series of trucks and trailers. Prep and masking experience required.
- Proficiency in the use of some tools of trade (including welding equipment, paint equipment, shop machines, and power tools).
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job
- Submit to a background investigation (to include past employment and criminal history).

Skills**:

- Strong written/oral communication, problem solving, and decision making skills are required.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assisting in Repairs: As a truck body assistant, you will work closely with our experienced technicians and mechanics to assist in various repair tasks. This includes preparing surfaces, sanding, taping, and masking vehicles prior to painting, as well as removing and installing damaged parts.
- Body Man Helper: Your role as a body man helper will involve assisting our skilled auto body technicians in repairing dents, straightening frames, and welding damaged parts. You will also be responsible for disassembling and reassembling vehicles as needed.
- Mechanic Helper: While helping the mechanic, the body shop mechanic assistant will help with routine maintenance, frame and structural repairs, diagnostics and maintaining vehicle safety and integrity.
- Buffer Assistant: A body shop helper can also handle the roles of a buffer, such as prep work and prepare surfaces, buffing, sanding, removing old paint, fill cracks, polishing and masking, and remove imperfections in painted panels.
- Detailer Assistant: As a body shop detailer helper you will help in the cleaning, restoring, and maintaining of the interior and exterior of cars, making them fresh and new.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: Maintaining a clean and organized workspace is vital in the automotive industry. You will be responsible for keeping the body shop area clean and organized, including proper disposal of hazardous materials and waste.
- Equipment and Tools: A collision repair assistant will utilize various tools and equipment such as spray guns, painting equipment, power tools, masking tape, basic hand tools, wire brushes and more on the job site.
- Cooperates and assists other personnel in the repair and prepping of vehicles.
- Understands, keeps abreast of and complies with all government regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, WHMIS, etc.
- Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Other tasks as assigned.
