**Description**:
The University of Toronto, as a strategic priority, works to enable international students and scholars to manage their success and meet their goals while being students at the University of Toronto. This requires developing resources, services and programs for international students and scholars, working in partnership with academic units, colleges, faculties, student life and residences. The Associate Director, International Student Services (ISS) reporting to and working with the Senior Director, Global Learning and International Student Success is responsible for supporting the University in achieving these goals.

Under the general direction of the Senior Director, Global Learning and International Student Success, the incumbent is responsible for internal partnership development and relationship building, which supports the strategic plans of our Faculties; developing a full variety of direct services to international students and enabling the development of embedded services for international students, to maximize the University’s ability to enable international students to arrive in Canada, fully partake in their program of study with the appropriate authorizations for study and work and to be to access health services through the University Health Insurance Plan.

Working with the Senior Director, the Associate Director will lead administrative processes, business review processes, success strategies and establish international student service practices in line with U of T policy and priorities. The incumbent will be directly responsible for managing 13 unionized employees; preparing and managing the budgets for each program; overseeing programming initiatives ensuring that the desired learning and programming outcomes are achieved and managing the staff supporting the various units.

Working with the Director, Learning and Safety Abroad, and the Associate Director, International Student Experience and Global Fluency Programs, the Associate Director will assist the Senior Director in the overall operations of the CIE including the development and implementation of professional development training for the full department and the management of internal team communications, budget forecasting and review and building needs.

In the absence of the Senior Director, the Director, Learning and Safety Abroad, and the Associate Director, International Student Experience and Global Fluency Programs, the incumbent will be the Acting Senior Director, Global Learning Opportunities and International Student Success.

**Qualifications Required**:
**I. EDUCATION**:
Graduate degree in relevant area: international relations, student development, adult education required or acceptable equivalent of education and experience. Registered Immigration Consultant Canada or Registered International Student Immigration Advisor.

**II. EXPERIENCE**:
Minimum of eight years related experience in a university environment, working with international students in a Canadian higher education sector with experience in international student immigration advising, experiential learning, or student success. A minimum of five years of team management and working with external and internal stakeholders. Experience in developing and/or delivering post-secondary education strategy, programs, and services. Experience in working with government policy related to immigration, fair work and health insurance; university policy and regulations, internal and external partnership development, international opportunities development and large-scale program development moving from initiation to growth and steady state. Knowledge of current laws and best practices as pertaining to global learning essential. Experience living abroad or moving across national borders would be an asset. Experience supervising in a unionized environment an asset.

Ability to prioritize work, deal with multiple demands with time-sensitive pressure, work under constant pressure and stress. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, to deal with matters of extreme sensitivity and confidentiality; demonstrated proactive approach to program implementation and problem solving; demonstrated commitment to optimization of work efficiency and rationalization of procedures. Ability to work evenings and weekends when needed essential.
