**Position Details**

Reporting to the Research & Program Development Manager, the Research Associate is primarily responsible for the execution of the assigned research and intervention projects, focusing on overall data collection design and analytical outputs of the assigned projects.

- Supports the Manager in leading the two IRCC-funded SDI projects titled TAIGA RISE and SettleSMART and daily tasks as assigned by the Manager.
- Works closely with university and community partners on the SDI projects’ overall design and execution.
- Presents the SDI projects, research results, theories and new ideas at local, provincial, and national conferences.
- Participates in writing and publishing new knowledge and research in peer-reviewed academic publications.
- Supports department Manager with setup and initial piloting and/or implementation of new programming or research initiatives through the hiring and supervision of program/research coordinators and related staff.
- Collaborates with Senior Researcher to ensure the appropriate research methodologies are applied to research projects, including highlighting relevant applicable theories, approaches and paradigms.
- Builds networks in the academic, community development and newcomer services community to strengthen program delivery and settlement goals of the Society.
- Engages researchers from the academic community in pursuing endeavours that extend the knowledge and expertise of the Society in developing effective settlement approaches and programming that benefit the SDI projects.
- Leads the SDI projects’ development based on the latest trends and knowledge available through research, stakeholder feedback and effective environmental scanning.
- Identifies and pursues new funding opportunities, leading the development and writing of new proposals and responses to Calls for Proposals from government and private agencies to ensure the sustainability of the SDI projects.
- Supports the Manager in preparing the SDI projects’ reports for funders as instructed in the Contribution Agreement.
- Promotes the program by using various channels, social media and advertising sites including as well as collaborating with community and research partners.
- Directly supervises Research Assistants/Coordinators assigned to the SDI projects.
- Performs other job-related duties as required by the supervisor.

**Knowledge of**:

- Latest local and international trends, approaches, discourses, and research on settlement, and migration.
- Established research approaches in the study of newcomer, migrants, migrations, community development, societies and human behaviour.
- Current discourses and issues relating to equity, diversity and inclusion in minorities.
- Program and project management, including the development, implementation and control of project deliverables, outputs, outcomes and project management framework.
- Quantitative and qualitative research methodology, analyzing the collected data and writing up research findings, as well as research project operation, requirements and academic environment.
- Mastery of and experience to use at least one quantitative research software to conduct research data analysis and sum up the research findings.
- Research project operation, requirements and academic environment.
- Established academic literature on settlement, migration and immigration, minorities, minoritization and community development, as well as climate adaptation (basic knowledge).
- Trending technologies, such as AI platforms, tools and chatting tools, including those powered by AI (basic knowledge/awareness).
- Another language is essential.
- MS Office Suite, MAC OS, and Internet.
