**Schedule**: Full-time, 35 hours per week.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Student Success and Academic Advising, the Academic Advisor, Recruitment and Transition In will develop, implement, and assess initiatives to ensure that Victoria College achieves its objectives in student recruitment, including admissions numbers and diversity of student population. and welcome and orientation events. The incumbent is responsible for broad, strategic outreach and recruitment activities and events, and proposes the creation, evolution, and assessment of recruitment materials, online resources, and communications both to potential and new Victoria College students, all in collaboration with and participating alongside the University of Toronto and the Faculty of Arts & Science recruitment teams. Collaborating with the Registrar, the incumbent sets admission thresholds including grade minimums, assesses admission profiles and appeals, projects outcomes during admission cycles, and collates historical data for future strategic planning. The incumbent supports with new student and transition academic programming in partnership with the Office of the Dean of Students and acts as a knowledge resource for fellow academic advisors on academic advising for new students.
**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:
EDUCATION
**Master’s degree in one of the following areas**: higher education, adult education, student development, counseling; or acceptable combination of education and experience.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 4 years of experience in an academic advising role, or in a student service role offering equivalent experience in academic advising in a university or educational environment. Experience in student service or advising with a focus on transition to a new educational environment, whether in recruiting or in supporting new students. Experience developing and implementing programming or workshops online or in person, or other event management offering equivalent experience. Experience managing and analyzing data.
**Assets include**: good knowledge of Faculty of Arts and Science rules and regulations; familiarity with the electronic student registration system (ROSI); familiarity with the Canvas (Quercus) learning platform; familiarity with admissions and/or recruitment processes at the University of Toronto; experience developing communications including through social media; experience working with data and outcome projections; experience supervising casual and/or ongoing staff.
OTHER
Demonstrated commitment to advising and programming in support of equity, diversity, and inclusion; ability to communicate with a diverse student population; excellent written and oral communication skills; demonstrated effectiveness in public speaking and presentations to groups; strong interpersonal, advising, and organizational skills; sensitivity, diplomacy and tact in addressing the needs and concerns of students.
Ability and interest in working with students in a very busy student services environment while managing a set of competing priorities; ability to work to deadlines under pressure while multi-tasking; flexibility; initiative and commitment to providing feedback to improve service standards and efficiency: accuracy, and attention to detail; ability to assimilate new information quickly and to implement complex procedures; analytical and problem-solving ability; sound judgment; ability to be a good team member.
Well-developed computing skills with working knowledge of a wide variety of software: including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Ability to learn new software quickly.
