Responsible for assisting in the Property Tax and Assessment area of the Finance Department including issuing collection notices; filing; open and process daily mail; batch and balance tax payment cheques with co-ordinating tax remittance stubs.
Job Requirements
- This position is eligible for the _**_Canada Summer Jobs_**_ grant program. To be eligible, youth must meet the following eligibility requirements:_
- be between 15 and 30 years of age **at the beginning** of the employment period*;
- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
1. Enrolled in post-secondary courses or program in a related field (Business, Accounting, or Property Assessment program) with the required knowledge of basic accounting and mathematical operation.
2. Demonstrated knowledge of office/administrative procedures, and possess effective customer service skills
3. Experience in a municipal environment an asset.
4. Ability to deal courteously and effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, including taxpayers, lawyers, financial institutions, MPAC, staff and other agencies.
5. Proficiency with using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) with demonstrated experience in a computerized environment.
6. Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, detail oriented and analytical skills.
7. Able to work in a fast paced changing environment with emphasis on multi-tasking.
8. Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
