**THE OPPORTUNITY**

RAM Iron & Metal is looking for a competent and experienced **Supervisor, Service Maintenance **to join our Team. The Supervisor, Service Maintenance under the direction of the General Manager will be responsible to plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the maintenance department.

**OVERVIEW**

**RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITES**
- Lead and supervise maintenance staff, assigning tasks related to equipment maintenance, welding, and repairs on commercial vehicles.
- Schedule and prioritize maintenance activities for metal recycling equipment and vehicles based on operational requirements and safety considerations.
- Ensure the establishment, implementation, and enforcement of a maintenance program for all facilities including maintenance schedules for all equipment and trucks.
- Quality assurance of purchases and services completed.
- Management of contracts for purchases and services and negotiation of terms and pricing relative to purchases and services provided.
- Management of inventory control stored on site, and on software.
- Provide detailed reports outlining cost breakdown of labour, parts, products, vendor services, tools, equipment, and so forth.
- Monitor the performance of recycling equipment, conduct routine inspections, and address maintenance issues promptly to prevent disruptions in production.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule maintenance downtime for equipment repairs, installations, or upgrades.
- Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance technicians, particularly in tasks such as welding, troubleshooting hydraulic systems, and repairing heavy machinery.
- Conduct safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety awareness among maintenance staff, emphasizing proper procedures for working with large-scale equipment.
- Assist the Maintenance Manager in developing and implementing maintenance procedures specific to metal recycling equipment and commercial vehicles.
- Maintain inventory of spare parts and materials necessary for equipment maintenance and repairs, ensuring availability to minimize downtime.
- Document maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment inspections, and safety reports, in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Implement and enforce policies and procedures, including best practices for control of spills, housekeeping, hazards, lockout, personal protective equipment, and completion of work orders.
- Provide job coaching, training, and continual feedback to personnel.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to develop and implement preventative maintenance programs tailored to the unique needs of metal recycling equipment and commercial vehicles.
- Other duties as required, not limited to responsibilities listed above.

**QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE**
- Five (5) to ten (10) years of prior practical experience.
- Qualified and/or certified Maintenance Mechanic 421A preferred and or 310T.
- Certified forklift driver is an asset.
- Prior Lock-Out training and or certification.
- Ozone Depletion Certificate is an asset.
- Knowledge of lifting equipment, working at heights/fall arrest, hot work, lock out/tag out are essential.
- Knowledge of mechanics and machine maintenance.
