**Duties**:
Welcome to the internal Employee Assistance Program at Global Affairs Canada
As an EAP Counsellor with Global Affairs Canada you will join a dynamic team of highly skilled professionals who provide mental health support services to the department’s employees and their family members locally and all over the world. It is a truly rare job opportunity to work in the domain of psychology and to be able to do so at an international level, with clients working and living in 110 different countries
Your duties will include:
- Providing individual short-term to mid-term counselling services to employees of the department and eligible family members on topics related to their personal lives and workplace situations
- Providing consultation services to supervisors and managers on topics related to employee mental health and wellness in the workplace
- Design and facilitation of workshops and training sessions (of varying durations) on topics related to mental health
- Facilitation of group processes on topics such as grief, critical incident stress, etc.
- Research and drafting of information sheets or other support materials as required
- Responding to crisis situations: on an individual level (clients in distress) or international level (critical incidents)
- Contributing in various ways to mental health and wellness promoting events or initiatives in the workplace
- Collaboration with colleagues in the Informal Conflict Resolution team in support of services offered by the department’s Ombuds Office
**Work environment**:
The department’s Employee Assistance Program is housed within the Office of the Deputy Ombud, Workplace Well-being. It is a dynamic team of mental health professionals dedicated to promoting a psychologically healthy and safe workplace to all Global Affairs Canada locations.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
**Education**:
A Master’s degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in a clinical program in Psychology, Counselling, Education (Counselling Psychology) or Social Work.
Degree equivalency
Experience:
1.Significant* experience in providing counselling or psychotherapy services to an adult population.
2.Experience in developing and facilitating group training sessions or workshops on topics related to mental health.
- Significant experience is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with the performance of duties for a period of approximately three (3) years.
ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
1.Experience in providing interventions related to critical incident stress management at an international level.
2.Experience working in an intercultural environment.
3.Experience in providing consultations to management or internal organizational partners on topics related to employee mental health and wellness in the workplace.
4.Ability to intervene following a critical incident with a group of impacted individuals.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
1.Willingness and ability to travel internationally to any country where Global Affairs Canada has an office, if required
2.Willingness and ability to work overtime, if required
3.Willing and able to work under a hybrid* model according to the direction from Treasury Board.
- A hybrid work model is a blend of in-office and telework.
