Overview

**Summary**

As the leader of the Transportation team, the Director of Transportation is responsible for developing and implementing third-party transportation strategies that provide cost effective transportation to meet Wonderbrands’ fresh product business.

The Director owns all commercial matters pertaining to third-party transportation and ensures performance meets Wonderbrands requirements. The annual third party Transportation spend exceeds $50 million.

**Responsibilities**
- Provide strong leadership to build an exceptional transportation sourcing, operations and analysis teams
- Lead the development and implementation of long-term carrier selection and management strategies in collaboration with Procurement and Wonderbrands Business Leaders
- Lead all carrier sourcing initiatives including development of Request for Quotations / Proposals, analysis, negotiations and final contracts
- Coach, inspire teams, and instill the culture of relentless obsession with continuous improvement in a demanding environment
- Continuous analysis of the Canadian transportation industry to fully understand all aspects of the industry including supply and demand, cost drivers, technologies, carrier profiles and capabilities
- Work with Procurement to ensure appropriate sourcing tools, templates, processes and technologies are employed
- Develop and maintain carrier and freight rate database across Wonderbrands
- Work with Finance and Distribution on all budget activities and costing requests (e.g. new product development, customer pick-up, etc.)
- Develop and maintain carrier performance metrics and scorecard
- Work with Wonderbrands’ teams to resolve issues and provide practical cost-effective solutions
- Ensure carrier performance meets Wonderbrands and customer needs
- Conduct regular performance and business reviews with carriers
- Work with carriers to develop e-commerce infrastructure (EDI, web portals, electronic POD's, etc.) in conjunction with Wonderbrands Information Solutions Team
- Oversee and resolve all freight related claims for Wonderbrands
- Lead a monthly review process for Transportation including document preparation and pre-meetings with key stakeholders

**Requirements**:

- 10+ years of Logistics experience, leading diverse teams
- Significant Operational experience in carrier contracts, performance management and freight costing
- Related post-secondary degree, diploma or professional designation (e.g. CITT, P.Log.)
- In-depth knowledge of the food or consumer packaged goods industry in Canada
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated abilities to build and lead teams in an agile and flexible environment
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills
- Strong analytical, problem solving and quantitative skills
- Travel within Canada approximately 20% of the year
- Knowledge in SAP, TMS or other transportation systems
