The General Welding Assembler will need to have an understanding of welding processes and be able to perform fitting operations on related antenna assemblies. This person will be responsible for cutting, drilling, de-burring and sanding various parts and components on assemblies using hand and small power tools in order to prepare fixtures for welding processes. The General Welding Assembler will work closely with the Welding Department providing various levels of support.
**Essential Job Function**
- Understand welding processes
- Ability to read mechanical engineering drawings
- Produce quality parts that meet drawing tolerances and specifications
- Have basic knowledge of all equipment and able to set-up own job with mínimal supervision
- Repair worn parts/rework
- Must be able to take directions from other welders
- Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
- Use of hand and power tools such as drills and sanding equipment.
- Maintain safe work practices
- Assist in development of repair estimates.
- Conduct Technical Inspections
- Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues
- Prepare input for various management and log reports
- Conduct project review and planning
- Review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use
- Develop goals and priorities
- Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects
- Keep detailed and accurate reports and documentation
- Maintain a working knowledge of changes in technology, compliance and repair techniques
- Perform all duties in accordance with health and safety safe work requirements;
- Other assigned work as required
**Experience and Skills**:
- 1-2 years’ experience as a Welding Assembler or similar role
- Requires High School Diploma or equivalent work experience.
- Certification in welding techniques is preferred.
- Must have knowledge of MIG and TIG processes.
- Ability to understand blueprints and other technical drawings
- Ability to work independently in a busy environment
- Experience with routine maintenance operations
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Able to work well under pressure
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
- Computer literate
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects and work in various positions.
- Must be comfortable working from Heights.
- Forklift Certification is an asset.
Location
This position is based at our facility in Ashburn, Ontario. There may be some travel required between Ashburn and our Whitby site.
